Part Nine: Health & Safety

Why is Health & Safety Training important?

According to the Statistics for Great Britain, in 2021 alone over 140 people were killed due to accidents at work and just under one million were injured. Additionally, over 1.5 million suffered illnesses caused by or made worse by, their work. So, preventing accidents and ill health caused by work should be a key priority for both employers and employees.

All work-related activities will invariably expose employees to some form of hazard. These hazards include dangerous machinery, working at height, fire safety, work-related driving activities or even psychological hazards such as stress.

Every employee is entitled to work in an environment where the risks within that workplace have been assessed and are managed through the provision of suitable control measures. However, health and safety can sometimes be overlooked. A business must ensure that its managers, supervisors, and all employees are provided with specific work-related training in relation to the company’s health and safety policies and procedures.

Put simply, your duty of care to provide useful health and safety information and training will safeguard your employees AND your business.

Our health and safety course will help you:

• Ensure your employees are not injured or made ill by the work they do.

• Develop a positive health and safety culture, where safe working becomes second nature to everyone.

• Find out how you could manage health and safety better including identifying potential risks and hazards within the workplace.

• Meet your legal duty to protect the health and safety of your employees. The law requires you to provide whatever information, instruction and training are needed to ensure, so far as is reasonably practicable, the health and safety of your employees.

• Avoid the distress that accidents and ill health cause.

• Avoid the financial costs of accidents and occupational ill-health. Don’t forget that your insurance doesn’t cover all losses. Demotivated staff, lost production and damaged products can all come as a result of accidents within the workplace.

Kaizen Training’s Health and Safety course provides the most up-to-date Health and Safety information and looks at Government legislation and risk assessments. It covers any gaps within candidates’ knowledge and offers the latest sound advice to ensure you and your employees are always following the safest work procedures.
