Course Highlight: Part One – ‘Infection Control’
Our Infection Prevention and Control (IPC) courses are designed to provide those who work in a healthcare or social care setting with the skills and critical knowledge of how to work safely in environments where there may be risks of infections transferring.
All staff who work in these settings (such as care homes, hospital wards, day centres, or supporting an individual in their own home) should be trained in Infection Control to understand how infections can easily be transmitted and how to prevent putting people at risk.
With the Coronavirus COVID-19 pandemic reminding us all of the need for effective and consistent prevention and control within healthcare environments, this in-depth course will broaden attendee’s understanding of the cycle chain of infection and common microorganisms that cause disease and infection. It covers the different ways in which bacteria are transmitted, cleaning and disinfection procedures, personal hygiene best practices and much more.
We also explore the various types of infections and which control measures should be in place to prevent these as well as what to do in the event of a breach.
After this course, attendees will be able to:
- Understand where infection risks may present themselves.
- Understand how to protect yourself and those within your care.
- Understanding/knowledge of relevant protocols and procedures and how to demonstrate these within your workplace.
- Understand your responsibility to prevent transferring infections within the workplace.
- Understand what PPE is and how to effectively don and doff PPE.
