Part Ten: Moving & Assistance
Moving and Assistance is a vital part of any care role. Some patients require assistance with even the most basic aspects of their care, including help with moving and handling their body on a day-to-day basis. Depending on their circumstances, patients will require varying approaches to their care including differing procedures when it comes to helping them move.
But poor Moving and Assistance practice can lead to discomfort and a lack of dignity for the person being moved, back pain and musculoskeletal disorders (which can lead to the inability of the carer to work) as well as accidents which can injure both the person being moved and the carer.
This is why effective Moving and Assistance training is vitally important.
Our Moving and Assistance course aims to minimise the injury risk to both staff and service users within the care environment. Our course will help identify the good and bad practices when it comes to moving and handling procedures to ensure staff are competent to perform them on service users.
This course is a practical course that is done face-to-face and isn’t something that can be learned online. Our highly skilled and experienced trainers ensure that candidates have the knowledge and skills through practical learning and practising the techniques themselves. These techniques and procedures can be applied to any care environment including care at home settings and care at home settings.
Candidates will get hands-on experience with industry-standard equipment to ensure they are proficient in the use of hoists, slide sheets and more.
Below are some of the things that candidates can expect to learn in our Moving and Assistance course.
