Dementia is an umbrella term used to describe a range of progressive neurological disorders.

Maintaining quality of life is extremely important for those living with dementia.

This course is beneficial to anyone who wishes to have a greater understanding of Dementia, such as family members, or those who work within a care environment such as care at home, residential care home or hospital.

It provides vital information from diagnosis, treatment and living with dementia to assuring quality of life and ongoing care throughout. It also touches on the different types of dementia and how it progresses.

Applying both roleplay and theoretical learning, our course will give you a sense of how to best support and interact with those diagnosed with dementia. Understanding the emotional repercussions, including distress, and how to deal with difficult scenarios.

After completing our course, candidates will:

  • Know how to assist in maintaining quality of life

  • Understand treatments and living with Dementia

  • Know how to cater the care plan to the individual living with Dementia

  • Have an understanding of what Dementia is and the effects of this (on the individual, family and friends)

  • How to engage with and support family members

  • Different types of dementia, understanding dementia and the
    associated behaviours

  • How to enrich the service user’s life
